Actually the name was initially G.O, but similarities with another band led to us adding the third alphabet...and divine inspiration too!

well, it definately provides a wider reach for the artist and fans...because we come from nigeria...and we can only reach our fans out there via the internet! so it is a good development.on the other hand, free dowloads and illegal downloads are the bane of the music industry...nobody buys cds anymore! so...i'd say its a gift and curse thing...no refrence to Jay!

THE BAND WAS FORMED IN 2001...WITH J28(then known as C-FLOW) WAS ABOUT TO RECORD AN ALBUM WITH MARV. CHYLD. BEING A REAL CAT, HE FELT THAT IT WOULD BE BETTER IF HE ALSO INVITED ANOTHER CAT INTO THE DEAL...NAMELY GQ. GQ THEN INVITED PSALMURAI AND THEY ALL WENT INTO THE STUDIO AND RECORDED SEVERAL SONGS IN A HURRY. THE ALBUM WAS NEVER RELEASED EVENTUALLY DUE TO SOME GLITCH IN A "PERFECT ARRANGEMENT". ANYWAY, THESE THREE CATS HAD SUCH CHEMISTRY THAT A CREW WAS BORN RIGHT THEN AND THERE. THE GROUP WAS INITIALLY KNOWN AS "G.O" OR "GOD'S OWN", BUT THEN SOME BUSINESSES AND ORGANISATIONS STARTED POPPING UP WITH THE SAME NAME ALL OVER, SO TO SEPARATE THAT FROM THIS, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE CREW BE KNOWN AS "G.O.D" OR "GOD'S OWN DISCIPLES" AND THE "LABEL" KNOWN AS "G.O/GOD'S OWN RECORDS". IN 2004/2005, A THIRTY-SIX LONG MIXTAPE WAS RECORDED BY THE CREW,STUNNING THE HIPHOP COMMUNITY AND REMINDING THEM OF WHAT IT MEANT TO BE AN EMCEE. AN ALBUM IS THE WORKS, AND THE MEMBERS ARE WORKING ON INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS AS OF NOW. The band in composed mainly of three members: GQ PSALMURAI J28 GQ Also known as "FOUND", is the assumed "leader" of the crew.Born Seun Odukoya on 23 of july, GQ is a no-holds barred mc.in his own words, "i have always had a flair for words.i just had to meet J28 and Psalmurai, and a cat was born". something of a raging demon on the microphone, GQ is a cat to watch out for in the hiphop community. PSALMURAI Arguably the illest, tightest emcee in Nigeria(no kiddin'!!), PSALMURAI is born Samuel Achema on the 30th of july. PSALMURAI started rhyming in 1997 when he met with Dasuki(of the Kaliphate).together with four other incredible lyricists, they formed the group Kaliphate, tore up charts and review columns for over eight years.at the moment, Psalmurai is working on his solo lp while waiting for the G.O.D album. J28 Also known as C-flow,B.r.o,The Flo,and whatever else he's callin' himself this week,28, born Benedict Rajah Obazele on the 14th of april is undoubtedly a very skilled emcee who's been holding it down on the low for eight years.hustlin thru school and also being a hiphop-head on the side hasn't exactly been easy for this man but he persevered and it started paying dividends with the release of the G.O.D Mixtape and the completion of his lp, aptly titled "Locally Made". his first single, "ghetto" is burning up the airwaves and the video has been shot. its a G.O. thing, y'alll !!

THIS CREW ACTUALLY DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANYONE EXCEPT GQ, PSALMURAI AND J28, BUT THEY MIGHT REMIND YOU OF A LOT OF REAL CATS LIKE KRS-ONE, NAS, KILLAH PRIEST, CANNIBUS, TALIB KWELI, COMMON...ETC
