EJ Kantola - Banana Box Express

Very pleased to meet you all. I'm happy to share my excitement of my very first CD release.
Why this name?
EJ Kantola is my name and the CD title, Banana Box Express was just plain catchy. I sold a few collectables out of decorated banana boxes prior to my CD.
Do you play live?
I do play live... I have fronted for bands, played jams, coffee houses, house parties and yard parties... that kind of thing. I am currently planning my CD release party and beginning to plan a tour.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
As a songwriter, the mp3 and the internet is a major marketing tool. More than as a way to make money, that is how I view it. It is my sincere hope that people will still want to buy the real CD for the ultimate sound quality and the artwork.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That is a good question. It would depend on the contract. I read Courtney Loves manifesto and that was enough to scare the daylight into me. I think that since I am only just beginning, I may choose independence for awhile.
Band History:
As a solo artist, I am soon to be putting together more options in my show so I can promote my CD. I am searching for musicians to offer a duet, trio and full band. Then we shall make some history. :)
Your influences?
I love lyrical songwriters such as Paul Simon, Joni Michell, Jim Croce, and John Lennon. Songs that tell stories or give points of view or offer some kind of light on a subject is my kind of writing.
Favorite spot?
I love where I am now. The west coast of Canada has great weather and has offered me opportunities not available to me in rural NW Ontario, where I came from.
Equipment used:
I play a Takamini... love that guitar. It did a great job on the tracks on the CD.
Anything else...?
I just hope you enjoy the songs I put up.
