Lynda Brennan-Solo artist
This sound is diverse enough to relate to without trying to fit any particular genre. Emotive and captivating, mellow and raw sounds to capture the soul of music. Relational, striking lyrics with metaphoric messages to capture your imagination.
Some have commented on being moved deeply, being able to relate personal experiences with the music. You be the judge and enjoy.
Do you play live?
Not right now. I have enjoyed the live scene for 15 years though on and off, as it goes! I retreat often to replenish the creative juices.
I have great memories of my band and duos playing live at the Local Folk Festival. We came third in a busking comp! paying for our accomodation. Fav venue was the front bar at the Gov.
Played a lot as a worship leader in churches, having some deeply awesome times. Broke many strings and even dropped the guitar midway through a performance!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Huge exposure and personal satisfaction for creating your own stuff and having other awesome musos hear it!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sony, in Sydney were interested in my songwriting ability....which came at the wrong time for me in my life. I was going through a divorce and strung out with two young kids that needed me. Now I am free from responsibility. Hmmm...would I sign? if it was meant to be. Yes.
Your influences?
Suzanne Vega, Bob Dylan-lyricist,
Favorite spot?
Any coastline in the world! been to a few.
Equipment used:
Simon&Patrick maple soft top acoustic with a dynamic sensitive pickup.
AppleMac laptop for recording simple demos.
SureM58 mic.
Anything else...?
Love to sing...eases the troubles of this world! tames the savage beast, puts babies to sleep, unites races, communicates without being threatening (depending...), feels good. I'll never stop!
