Once in a while a we are given a brief escape from the soulless, plastic, meaningless marketing that invade our stereos and heads like some unstoppable virus. Queen Elvis has managed to this with a passion that is almost unbelievable. Former members of Big Bag of Sticks, Caroline and Colin have helped lay the foundations of modern folk music in Ireland. Their experiences both in music and life shines through and leads the listener on a journey that touches on the real life joys, upsets, and the political strife that shape our lives on a daily basis. Caroline's insanely beautiful voice is complemented by the exotic rhythms that are produced by one of the finest guitarists in the country. I suggest that you go and listen to this "Queen Elvis" and I promise it is not an experience that you will ever forget.
Why this name?
Queen Elvis was chosen as the name for the band because of Colin's love of the music of Robyn Hitchcock and this is one of his favourite tracks .
Do you play live?
Played live for many years with Big Bag of Sticks and just starting to return to the live scene again with a few dates around Ireland and hopefully expand out to Germany where we have played many times before.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For the better as it is more cost effective for the struggling artist to get his/ her music out into the public domain and reach a far wider audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Perhaps if the offer was a good one but would not sell my soul to the devil
Your influences?
Many influences but whether our music would have any connection to them not sure but they are Nick Cave, The Special Aka, Robyn Hitchcock, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, The Who, Muse , Snow Patrol, Damien Rice etc...
Favorite spot?
West coast of Ireland ,a connemara beach on a sunny day
