Band History:
HISTORY

Coming from different backgrounds and different families in different places, the three (Harly Lumagui, Gean Guilatco, Philip Cesar) met up June of 1997 in Saint John Mark Academy High School in Biñan Laguna bringing together their musical talent and a dream of someday becoming one of the well-known band in the Philippine history. That is when they formed their first group named “Mighty Band”. It was with great confidence that they played on the high school stage the songs of their icon Rivermaya, Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar, Rage against the Machine and Sixpense None the Richer that all went well achieving the crowd’s very first recognition of their talents. During the jams they played in their different houses and different studios around Pacita Complex where they bumped into Athley Glori with his fine voice and Pinoy Rock influence in guitar. All throughout their high school days they found fulfillment in making music playing gigs in small bars around their vicinity.

March of 2000 when their high school years had ended, they all went separate ways joining other groups and organizations and learning new variety of art influencing their musicality and creativity.

Early of 2006, with his efforts and his love of music, Mr. Dennis Lumagui (Papsie) father of Harly Lumagui always had a dream of becoming a great composer and arranger that he gathered his resources to acquire different musical instruments influencing the youth around the neighborhood to try out their talents and assemble the songs that he had made. Others tried but none succeeded until Harly, Gean, Philip and Athley decided on their own way to put together Papsie’s songs. They are all rusty at that first trial but they did good because of the attachment and the friendship that they had few years back. They practice every end of the week thinking a day before what style are they going to put on their part applying different musical combination improving their sound. It then came to the point that they decided to record the songs of Papsie and they also added their own compositions to fill out the spaces completing the album. They named themselves “Monkeydrive”.and played gigs at bars along manila, and nearby laguna provinces.

With music in their hearts, guitar in their left hand and an undying patience and guts, the band including Papsie are dreaming of becoming big and “it could be” with the help of their friends, their family and God.
