My Life
Im John Dawson and Ima singer/songwriter representing tha 7 cities of VA. I started writing when I was about 9 yrs. old. I started writing poems and that gradually evolved into songs and songwriting. Most of my songs are about real-life situations or personal feelings that alot of people can feel so I try to write a song based on a personal feeling or opinion about a situation.
Why this name?
Well, I was born John Dawson some, I have to be John Dawson 24 hrs. a day/7 days a week, naw sayin?
Do you play live?
I do a coupl e of performance with my homeboy Josh Stanley aka Krazy J; he basically hooks up tha performances and appearance while I handle the production and writing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that any outlet where you can promote yourslef and your music is a great means, but the only thing that I hate is when somebody can download your song illegally and try to run with it themselves and get signed or whateva.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, I would only if I could still be myself and tha label had a family atmosphere where I could get an opinion about a song from management or the CEO. I want them to be vocal about a song, but not to the point where they try to change who I am and my music.
Your influences?
I dont really have any influences except my family and friends. Im a fan of some peoplez music like Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz, but I dont wanna be like these guys naw sayin? Im tryna be my own man & live a humble and meaningful life.
