Marcie Bias a gifted singer/songwriter was born in San Leandro, California and was raised by her Mother, Joyce Hayes. Like many African American families, her Grandmother and the Church were also great influences. Marcie had begun showing musical talents at an early age. Whether humming to the C and H commercials or to the musical sound track The Wiz, Marcie was always singing! Once, her mother took her to see the movie Mahogany, while standing in the restroom’s line, Marcie began singing the words, “Do you know where you’re going to?” Within minutes she had an audience and had made her musical debut at the age of 3! Her vocal talents developed in the church, and she was given the nick-name “little Mahalia.”

This anointed singer received her musical training with the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church Broadcast Choir of Oakland, California under the direction of the late Pastor, Dr. C. J. Anderson. At the age of 12 years old she could be heard on Sunday Mornings leading the Intermediate Choir with, “All Night, All Day the Angels Are Watching Over Me”. At 16 she became the youngest member of the Saint John Specials, a female quartet prayerfully selected by her late Pastor. A position she still holds today! She has been a soloist in the Baptist State Congress Musicals under the direction of the late Justin S. Cummings, Richard Herron and Pastor John Allen McBride where she led such songs as “Jesus Is the Light of the World” and “I Will Trust Always in the Lord.”

Although she has had no formal training, Marcie Bias has sung with and for such Gospel greats as The Barrett Sisters, Dottie Peoples, Inez Andrews, Darwin Hobbs and Donnie McClurkin. Comedian Steve Harvey was so impressed with Marcie Bias’ Demo that in September of 2002, he played one of her songs at the opening of his Morning Show in Los Angeles.

Marcie has been offered opportunities to “cross-over” to Rhythm and Blues but she has turned them down saying, “God has given me this voice to sing praises unto Him, the songs that I sing are those of healing and ministering to encourage God’s people to stay in the race.” Marcie Bias is a faith-rooted, humble vessel of God. She has been touching hearts with her angelic voice all over these United States. Gospel recording artist, Joann Rosario encouraged Marcie by passing on the words her father once stated to her, “Your gift will make room for you.”

In September of 2003 she became the first winner of Western Bible Bookstore’s, Superstar competition, singing “I Won’t Complain”, a capella. As a result Marcie was featured on KTLN’s “People Like You” with Debbie Frasier, and in November of this same year she was also featured in Donnie McClurkin’s New Artist Showcase.

Marcie Bias’ goal is to ultimately become a successful Gospel Recording Artist traveling both nationally and internationally spreading the joy of the Lord through song. The Bay Area has released such greats as The Hawkin’s Family, Daryl Colely, Lawrence Mathews and the soon to be discovered, Marcie Bias.
