Osmium: A hard metallic element that is the heaviest metal known...

When searching for a name to describe the kind of sound we wanted to create, there was no second guessing the name that we came upon. Osmium has been and will always be the simple project of a group of dedicated musicians who strive to create the best sounding metal music we can possibly write. No more, no less. With the unique blend of solid groove, crushing overtones and brutal pit style riffs, Osmium is fast becoming a recognized force in the metal community.

With the release of “From the Ashes”, the band is now shifting their focus from the local metal scene to the national metal circuit. “This album is exactly what we needed to push us out of the small time and generate a real industry buzz” says vocalist and band spokesperson Pete Pellizzari. “We’ve spent the time and the energy to create this album, all that’s left is to get it into the hands of every metal head across the world.” Osmium is currently doing just that. From street teams and commercial radio ads, to all out Internet domination this band is serious about making a firm statement in the music industry. “We’re not going to wait for someone to believe in what we’re doing. It’s up to us to do it ourselves” says guitarist Shilo Kramer. “I love this band because we’re not afraid to put it all on the line and in the end we’ll have no one to attribute it to but ourselves”. It’s this kind of raw determination that separates Osmium from the rest. The vision and drive to take the reins and see the project to completion regardless of the obstacles along the way.
Why this name?
Since we play heavy metal, Osmium is actually the element which is the heavist metal known. Seemed fitting.
Do you play live?
Osmium originated in San Jose, Ca. We play live in and around the Bay Area and Los Angeles. We will be moving to other areas very soon. We always enjoy our live performances wherever we are.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
With the birth of MP3s on the Internet it's really given bands a chance to showcase their music to audiences that otherwise wouldn't have been able to hear them. We've received a lot of good feedback from people all over the world so far and have also got the chance to hear a lot of killer bands that we would have never know about.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course.

Your influences?
Some of our musical influences (in no particular order) include: Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Testament, basically old school thrash/speed with a little bit of today's grind to spice it up.
