We are Strophia. We are also Lenny and John. Two normal guys making some music. We play alot of different Genres, and can't be labeled as one. We just make music to entertain people and help us make it through our daily lives.
We play what we want to play, be it something funny, something deep, something heavy, etc. We will make you laugh, cry, zone out, or dance. We hope you enjoy our music. All of our music at the moment is made on our laptops using programs like Garageband and Sonar. The only real instruments we use are guitars and our voices. Everything else is synth. But it still sounds good in my opinion.
Why this name?
The original name I thought of was Strophanthin. It's a plant. People would put the oil on the ends of Arrows to kill animals and people, now it's used in heart surgery to slow down the heart.

But that was a bit too long and complicated, so we shortened it to Strophia. A greek water nymph. Also strophic is a musical term for verse chorus verse style.
Do you play live?
At the moment we are looking for other members to play live with us. A drummer, bassist, keyboardist, maybe another guitar. We both have a history of being on stage, but not as Strophia.

We will be performing live soon. We'll let you know when.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
More obscure, underground bands are able to get exposure. It's great. I hope it'll help us along too. Mp3, I don't care too much for the format, I like ogg vorbis much better, but the concept behind mp3 is a good one. It standardized audio.
Just wish it didn't have a license for you to use it. Linux users are getting the shaft.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the label promised not to tell us what to write, of course we would. Though we are not getting any hopes up. Celebrity status usually ruins good bands. It would be nice to make a good living doing this line of work.
Band History:
There really isn't much of a history yet. Still a newborn band. The idea for Strophia has been around since 2002ish when Lenny and John started jammin together and realized that they worked well together. In early 2004 we wrote our first real song called "On My Own" Then Lenny went off to the Army and there was a seperation for a while.

John and Lenny found each other on the internet again and started to send song ideas to each other over AIM and MSN. That's when Lenny started to use garageband to put instruments to all the acoustic songs and Wham! We were officially a band.

Lenny leaves the Army on August 2nd 2007, so we will be back together, Jammin out.
Your influences?
Alternative rock, Some hard rock, a little trip-hop and dance, some blues, and just plain acoustic jambands.
Equipment used:
Lenny:iBook G4 with Garageband and Logic Pro 7, M-Audio keystation 49e midi controller, Shitty yamaha Acoustic guitar, and a sansula.
John:
Anything else...?
Tell your friends about us. The whole point of this is to get a fanbase, let others know about us. Like I said before, we don't fit in just one genre, so anybody could like at least one of our songs. We are just starting out, so we may have a bright future in this music bizness.

More to Come.
