After years of being asked to do a Jazz album I finally decided to follow through with it. I call this the Spirit of Jazz because it reaches into my Gospel/Jazz root. I have founded a Jazz group called GrooveTyme. We are a group of four men who each bring their own talent through their own styles.

Why this name?
In college my nick name was Groovy so I chose Groove Tyme as the name for the musicians in my Jazz group.
Do you play live?
Our CD will be released August 1, 2007 so right now we are working very hard on promotions so that we can get the exposure that we need. We will play live anywhere we are asked to play.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes a variety of music more accesible.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but it would depend on the terms of the contract. Working independently allows me the freedom that a major label may not allow.
Your influences?
Norman's musical influences are Oscar Peterson and Joe Sample. Lawrence's musical influence is Keith Washington. Kevin's musical influences are George Benson, Earl Klugh, Norman Brown, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny and Emily Remler. Darnell's influences are Stanley Clarke and Verdine White.
