Suspekt, born Chase Galloway, in Madison, Tn. February 12th, 1987. At that point, there was a talented, motivated, and determined individual born. He does not claim to be a born star, stating,
"I won't say a star was born because i'm a humble individual. I'm not cocky. I don't want to be seen as if i'm too into myself. That's not me at all. I feel when people say that, they're being rediculous and too cocky."
Growing up in a single parent household, was hard, just as any other individual. He didn't grow up blessed and having things handed down to him. He grew up a troubled child, starting in elementary, and asking anyone that knew/knows him from then, could tell you.
"It was just a growing up stage, I believe just as any other in the same scenario. I think it was knowing that I was basically on my own as a man and had to be my own man and learn how to become one on my own. That being said, I felt I had to be aggressive and one step ahead of people at all times. You notice this type of behavior mainly with kids who grow up in a single parent household."
With that wear and tear on him, it lead him into difficulties throughout school. Constantly on a move to new places didn't help any. Never KNOWING anyone kept him on his toes. That lead to fighting. Feeling like he had something to prove. As a fifth grader, he was already threatened to be sent to jail for such activities. As a middle school student, he was placed in a Program for kids who had trouble issues. Sort of like a boot camp. By the time he was fifteen, he was already locked up. Life flashing before his eyes, realizing this wasn't getting him anywhere, he turned his motivation and determination to prove something, into something else. A more positive, and creative way. That's when his brother introduced him to music.
"Music was like my excape route from trouble. It basically saved my life. Instead of releasing anger in a physical way, I could express it in music."
Rather it be actual songs, or production, you can sense his mood, by the vibe you get from his music. His brother was also into music as well, and that's his whole motivation behind it. He observed, and noticed his dreams didn't come true, so Suspekt wanted to live his dreams and his brothers for him, seeing how it didn't work out due to personal life changing issues. Now he stands motivated more than ever for himself, and to do it for his brother.
"I watched how passionate my brother was about music. I felt the same vibe and I literally got addicted to music. I feel like i'm under some sort of pressure. I want to live both of our dreams, so not only do I have pressure on myself when it comes to my dreams, but I got the pressure of knowing i'm doing this for him to."
Growing up, it was a struggle, not always having a place to go, not knowing what's going to happen next, etc.
"I'm basically tired of struggling and seeing my mother struggle to try and support us. Regardless of us having jobs, my mother always put us first. I want to give that back to her one day and do the same thing."
So that's where the determination comes in with Suspekt. He wants to be able to live the lifestyle he never had the chance to, and give his mom and family a lifestyle they never had a chance to see.
"I want my mom and brother to have the things they've dreamed to ever have. I'm not really worried about me. Of course I'd like to have things, but i'm not most important. I want the best for my kinfolk. I would feel much more appreciative if they got what they wanted before me."
At a struggling point in life, came family issues, that landed Suspekt in jail, once again at age seventeen, and again at age twenty.
"Life with the family is a lot of drama. My family tends to get very mad, and always makes poor decisions at their boiling points. Even though that has happened, they've apologized, because they didn't really want that to happen. God says, "Forgive and forget." I don't hold grudges. I'll let the lord take care of that."
Now, at age twenty, he's on a grind, and is not looking back to his past. He's moving forward in his life and is now back on track to doing what he had his dreams set on. So when you see Suspekt, give him a hand shake, and support him. He's deffinately never going to forget anyone, regardless of what happens in his future career.
