My name is Steve Perkins and I am the Bass player for Evil Olive. Our primary songwriter/Lead Guitarist is Tony Cook and our Lead Vocalist/Guitarist is Justin Walters. Our music style is basically rock oriented with splashes of folk, blues and jazz. Some people categorize us as "Odball Rock" which is OK with us as that seems to describe our sound.
Why this name?
EvilOlive seemed like a catchy palindrome.
Do you play live?
We haven't performed live since Tony moved to Austin, TX and Justin moved to Trussville, AL. Whenever Tony and Justin come to Huntsville we try to play somewhere in town.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, without the internet, small acts like us would have very little hope of getting our music out to anyone beyond our local area.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if they ask...
Band History:
Evil Olive is a three (or sometimes four) piece band hailing from the small burg of Capshaw, Alabama. Our focus is on creating original music. To that end, we have recorded three CD's.
Our most recent effort, Brave New World, was completed at the end of 2006. Samples can be heard on our myspace page. The full CD is currently available via CDBaby.com.

Your influences?
We don't sound like any of these artists, but their influence is embedded in our music: Paul Simon, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Metallica, Ben Folds, Southern Culture on the Skids, Dave Bruebeck, Steely Dan, Willie Nelson, ACDC ...
