From the depths of America’s finest city, two artists emerge with determination, skill, and pure talent to bring a new innovative sound to the face of Hip Hop. The two combine to form Akaliko, a unique band of microphone bandits and beat composers.

Akaliko has been developing their skill for the last few years in the San Diego area. Ja, am I in? (Jamin Barnes) hails from Sacramento where he’s been honing his lyrical creativity for the last decade. Humble Idea (James Roit) has been developing his musical gift since youth in the suburbs of Chicago. Their musical talent continues to grow and knows no boundaries.

The group has independently released a full length LP “Unconditioned to Time and Season”, which was well received by the underground communities of both southern and northern California. They are currently working on a new project “Da Tighty Whiteys”, and are more than nine songs deep. Akaliko continues to do shows not just locally, but in different states and countries. The group had the unique opportunity to do the first live Hip Hop performance in Darwin, Australia. For more information on the group go to www.akalikomusic.com. Akaliko is determined to challenge the status quo. They would rather be leaders than followers. The following contains a small sample of their talent. I guarantee you will hear more from them in years to come.
Why this name?
Akaliko is an ancient word taken from the Buddhist scriptures called the Pali Cannon. The english translation is "timeless" or "unconditioned to time and season".
