The Bloolights are are a blues/rock band currently playing live as an acoustic duo and recording as a four-piece. We play in and around St. Louis, Missouri and our set typically includes a selection of covers and original material.
Why this name?
One of us (who will remain nameless) worked at Kmart in high school, and the nickname stuck. We also play blues, so it's sort of appropriate.
Do you play live?
We try to play live every week in the St Louis area.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it easy to get your music out there for people to hear, but makes it harder to stand out due to the number of bands posting their material.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Oh, we would never, ever, sell out our integrity like that...even if there was an enormous amount of money on the table...well, maybe we would sell out if there was an enormous amount of money on the table.
Your influences?
We are influenced by Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Queen, Elvis Costello, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Shins, Band of Horses, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, the Rolling Stones, Cream, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, a little more Dylan, Modern English, the Smiths, and a lot of other stuff. And Bob Dylan.
Equipment used:
Guitars, amps...some drums.
