What's good...Soundclick, it's your boi from the 319...Waterloo, Iowa. Mike 2Da G, getting crackin' on soundclick.com. I'm a 26 year old hip-hop head, basically trying to get out this small market that Iowa has. I'm self- produced, self-mastered, and all in all I'm doing this music sh*** by myself. Why this name?
I choose my name on a fluke..I've been Mike G all my life so I thought I'll throw a little more into it, and I came up with Mike 2Da G. Originally it was Mike 2Da Gangsta, but that was a little to extreme so I dropped the gangsta and made it a G. Cuz that's what I am a "G".
Do you play live?
Had 2 live shows, one in Iowa City, the home of U of I, it was cool..and another show in Dubuque, Iowa in 2006..I'm trying but it's hard taking care of everything at once...I need to hire some help.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet as been a life-saver for me..I'm in this small market and with the internet, I get to get heard all around the world..That's all good by me.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I'll sign in a second..forget a second.. in mill-second I'll sign, with a label that is looking for my type of talent.
Your influences?
My main musical influences are...Shawn Carter, Common, Mos Def, Nas, and Biggie Smalls.
Favorite spot?
My favorite city is and will always be Seattle, Washington. I'm coming back soon. Ya Heard
