805 South - Blues Rock and Everything in Between

"For the love of the music, nothing else matters!"

805 South (8-oh-5 South) is a Los Angeles based blues rock band that is a fusion of original Memphis Rhythm and Blues, Nashville song writing, southern rock guitar, groove pumping drums and smooth bluesy bass lines. If "Black Crowes", "Etta James", and "Cream" had a baby than 805 South would be that love child. They have been called "Stevie Ray Vaughan" with chicks and female "Jimi Hendrix".

Candy Bailey

805 South has performed live at The Joint, B.B. Kings Club - Universal City Walk, The Airliner, The Cat Club, Studio Suite, Universal Bar and Grill, The Derby, On the Rox, House of Blues, and The Mint to name a few.

805 South songs are available for film/TV. Their influences are blues and rock artists such as Black Crowes, Ben Harper and Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, and Bonnie Raitt. 805 South “Pay To Playâ€쳌 full length CD released in 2009.

Why this name?
805 South is the interstate from Los Angeles to San Diego. A trip to San Diego was the inspiration for starting our band.
Do you play live?
Yes we play live and we love it! All of our live moments are special. There is nothing like looking out in a crowd and seeing people vibin' off of the music that we create! It's an amazing and humbling experience!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the internet is an amazing tool for music! More artists are learning that they don't have to sell their soul to a label in order to be successful! The internet, MP3's, etc. are allow bands to gain exposure in more ways that were possible in the past.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No at this point in time. We hope to establish our band as best as we can, sell our music, and play live as much as we can without the need for a label.
Band History:
The band began when Lisa and Candy took a trip to San Diego. While driving, inspiration came for two songs, and we decided to create a band as soon as we returned from that trip.
Your influences?
Our musical influences are vast and range from everything from Black Crowes, to Ben Harper, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, its kind of hard to say....
Favorite spot?
Venice Beach
Equipment used:
A pen, some creativity, our voices, guitars, amps, and bass
