Demo Suzuki... a band hated as much as loved, is one of those bands. Demo Suzuki is a controversial band whose members have refused to perform certain songs based on lyrical content. If you like stuff you might like this.
Why this name?
Chris Russell was talking to Bucky Bunny of the Band 'Chin Ho' at Nectars one night and he took two names Bucky mentioned and made comic strip characters with them. One was named Demo Suzuki and based on my personality in the 80's. Bucky may have been referring to Damo Suzuki of Can, but we had never heard of him at the time.
Do you play live?
You can usually find Demo Suzuki lurking in a dark alley or just standing around on a street corner.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the full potential and impact of the internet on the industry has not been realized yet. The RIAA is freaking out, because the lawyers and excutives and other leeches only make money if a handful of big stars make big money. They don't want the market to be flooded with diversity and great music. Just turn on the radio and you will not only hear the same twenty songs, but the same sounding mediocre crap.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No one in their right mind would ever sign Demo Suzuki to a major label record contract.
Band History:
This band is history. Demo Suzuki is no more. Some members are forming a new band called 'The Regulars'. Some of you may think that is a stupid name and you are wrong...you are just stupid...so shut up...
