The Immortals are a crew of ill emcees and a dope DJ who joined forces to bring new sounds and vibes to a Hip Hop scene that is growing ever stagnant with all the bullshit making it's way into everyones ears via mass-marketing of talentless banter by consolidated labels. Our members include talented emcees/producers Vibe One (Under No Order/Preserve The Culture/Struggler's Movement), Chop D-Vise (7th Direction/Echo Industrial), DJ Doc Blis (DirtyAzKingz) and our extended family member Yser One (All Out Bums). Together, this squad represents different facets and styles that all compliment each other's and creates new audible pieces that will get into your very soul. Be on the lookout for the new single "No Strings Attached" b/w "What's Your Addiction?" on vinyl & CD summer 2006. Welcome to the next dimension. Hip Hop will never be the same...
Why this name?
We feel that through acts that we do today, we will be remembered forever by the ones we affect. Also, on a more spiritual plane, we believe in everlasting life via the soul and our inherent energy. Thus we acheive Immortality through many means.
Do you play live?
Yes at many venues throughout Florida and we have all ripped stages from Denver to Toronto to Ohio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It offers listeners a chance to experience new things they may not have had access to if they had to pay corporations big bucks to do so. They can then decide if they wish to support that artist or not. It also give talented artists that labels often overlook a chance at having a future in music by reaching ears who could not have accessed them via conventional means.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if it means we have total artistic freedom and can branch out wherever we want, and only if it's a per album deal and they guarantee we won't sit on a shelf for a long time before coming out. And only if they market us to REAL Hip Hop spots as well as unorthodox audiences. In other words... no.
Your influences?
Nas, Rakim, BDP, J. Dilla, The Roots, The Fugees, Non-Phixion, Sweatshop Union, Ice-Cube, Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Melle Mel, James Brown, The Meters, O.C., Big Daddy Kane, Notorious BIG, E-40 (Chop), Mood,
