description
A fun rock song with a playful array of guitars with a funk feel. As the remaining verses emerged, the song was changed from its original grungy format to a more playful, fun, funky feel.

Spam consists of five artists from three different continents. We play Alternative, Rock, Pop, and Metal, all with great precision and entertainment.
We have the odd 'fun' song, though we try for our lyrics to be meaningful, embodied by the music. Our music consists of a variety of instruments, with the usual acoustic and electric guitars, bass, and drums, often piano, and occassionally orchestra.
We do our best to be versatile and be different. Check out www.spamtheband.com for more!

Why this name?
Meeting over music forums and such, we did a lot of advertising for our band, wasting internet space and Thomas was brilliant at polluting forums with junk. Spam just popped into our heads and it stuck.
Do you play live?
We don't tend to play live as Thomas lives in the Netherlands, whilst Alex and Dan live in Australia. We intend to spread our music all over the internet instead.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Dramatically. We wouldn't be able to do this project without the internet. It is very convenient for people who don't know other musicians or have the right equipment, as you can meet all kinds of people over the internet. It has revolutionised music, changing the way people think of it.
In terms of distribution it is fantastic as well. If you are concerned with money making, then it is mainly for promotional purposes, or purchasing over the internet. However, if you want your music to be heard for free, as we do, you can get it to virtually every country in the world and have everybody you want hearing it.
The internet is taking the music industry in a very new direction. Where this path takes it in the short term is in a good way, but the long-term is unknown yet intriguing.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would gladly sign a contract, though we're not actively seeking it at this point. If any major label was interested we would be like to be contacted.
Band History:
In November 2005, Thomas Smeding and Alex Lloyd collaborated on their first song, "That Whisper Of Words". After this experiment, on January 26th, 2006, the artists felt they 'gelled' musically, deciding to team up in a band they dubbed 'Spam'. Their focus was initially Rock and Pop music, reviving Classic Rock with a new, modern vibe. Over the next year, they collaborated with Andrew Pratten, Nick Ridgway and Julia Hall at different stages.
Soon they realised they wished to expand their musical repertoire, exploring the Alternative genre and other possibilities. Heading musically separate ways from the others, Thomas and Alex persisted, with Daniel Van Werkhoven joining in February 2007. The Spam trio was complete. The three completed their first song, "Terror", in July 2007, with the Music Video following September that year. Jordan Michael Peterson from the USA provided his voice as the band's 'Guest Singer'.
Nearly another year into recording, it came apparent that one singer covering the range of material would be an impossible task. Dan's love of metal had influenced Spam, adding another genre to what they play.
Dan then had the thought of having varying guest singers as suited to each track, allowing each song's full potential to be realised with the perfect vocals for that tune. This has since become the Spam Project, epitomised by Lara Smeding (Thomas' sister) performing "Somebody Love Me", with her vocals achieving a standard way above expectations for the song.
If you wish to become a part of the Spam Project, by singing on a track, check out what's Ready to Sing, and other Upcoming Songs that you can sing in the future, and please feel free, regarding either, to Contact Us.
Remember, you can be a part of one of the first and finest Internet Bands!
