The best introduction I can give to this project is to ask you to listen to the music. If you like Blues, Folk, Rock and a bit of weirdness thrown in for good measure, you may like what I do.
Why this name?
I am sort of a one man band. Trying to find ways to overcome the sheer boredom of becoming the dreaded acoustic singer/songwriter in a coffee shop singing about my white-boy pain. Since I play many instruments and have such a wide array of musical influences, I'm like (sorry Bjork) an army of me.
Do you play live?
Yes, I play live whenever and wherever I can. I love it more than ice cream, and you can tell by my picture that I REALLY like ice cream.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It completely changed everything, yet we have yet to harness even a small percentage of the real power. Any schmuck with a guitar can have a web-site or places to put their music. The trick is to get people to come to you, and to get them to continue to care after they find you.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, as long as I own the rights to my songs, rights to my masters and they pay me. Good luck getting any of that from a major or a minor label these days.
Your influences?
I love Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Howlin' Wolf, Pete Townshend, Bjork, Hound Dog Taylor and Devo. If you don't like the blues, there is a good chance I won't like you.
Favorite spot?
I love Boston, NYC and New Orleans. I also happen to be a big fan of my hometown in Columbus, Ohio.
Equipment used:
Whatever is handy. I like playing things other people would call "trash". You can make music with anything, yet people seem to get hung up and just buy guitars and drums. Break out that trash can and put a mic on that sucker! Clap your hands or make a comb harmonica!
Anything else...?
My grandpa whistled while he worked. It is hard to be down when you whistle. Music can really change a whole day's mood if you let it. When I record or play live, I try to have as much fun as possible. I don't even really have to try, it just happens. I have no greater joy in my life than to share music with people.
