press reviews:
"life is absurd. art being the mirror of life, vynl overdrive is the apogee of artistic expression in the twenty-first century." - Matthew Hughes
"your'e the quirkiest mother f***er...." - Kristen
"At last - music for Sisyphus! Vynl Overdrive brings absurdity out of the underground, into the mainstream and then back into the underground again. This is THE major philosophical voice of our time." - Annie Gray
"you have some serious problems, dude...." - my little brother
Why this name?
it was the firt thing to survive the two week test, so i went with it. if anything, it's a reference to my love of excessive vynl. and yes, i know i'm mispelling it. i like my way better. no extraneous letters.
Do you play live?
lol..... uh, no.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it helps level the playing feild a bit in some aspects; i mean, how else would i have fans from russia that barely even speak english? ;)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
sure.
Band History:
vynl Overdrive started when i bought a new computer with the hope of writing music on it, and everything i wrote sounded terrible. then, out of a burst of retarded frustration, i wrote An Ode To F***. and it sounded exactally like how i wanted it to sound. bad. but oddly funny. and a few of my friends thought it was funny too. so it's become a bit of a hobby for me. then one of my friends talked me into posting some of it on the internet, and i got some great responses from random people (bolth positive and negative) and i found it funny.
Your influences?
way too many to even list. but probably most notabely are the Presidents, Apollo 440, Weird Al, Monty Python, and music i hate but like to make fun of.
Favorite spot?
WARRENVILLE! god i gotta get out of this shitty town....
Equipment used:
cakewalk sonar 3 w/ a ton of pluggins, a few softsynths (NI b4, pro 53, kontakt; Dreamstation; Moog Modular V), a Korg MS2000, Oberheim Matrix-1000, Kawai XD-5, Casio CZ-1, guitar, bass, random household objects, and anything else i can get my grubby little paws on.
