when we first started playing guitar we were clueless to music other than that of knowing what we thaught sounded good. with that in mind we looked at each other and vowed to play music for us. we feel that if we play for the sake of sound and enjoy playing for sound, that others will sense that passion and will be willing to grow with us. we are both self taught and as a practice tool, imagine that we are playing drums with strings. its a mind set that helps us tap into our primal instincts as listeners and orchestrators
Why this name?
our music is of a simple nature. we use alot of the same sounds throughout our songs with a variation in tempo, hence the name TEMPO
Do you play live?
we play as much as we can. Duggans Pub in Lincoln NE is where we call home. after playing our first open mic there over a year ago, we were embraced into a family of rich underground acoustic influences. its amazing to see the support that we have gained, especially in our own area. in addition to that, all of our recordings are done live. we have discussed with idependent producers about recording tracks/demos, but that may never happen. we listen to live music. if you cant perform live than you are no better than a pop performer...in reality there is nothing wrong with pop performers...which to me is just like the county fair lip-synch contest
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the music industry is always changing. we would be naive to think that it wont/wouldnt technology will be used in a fashion that emulates the morals and ethics of its users. with this in mind i can only say that it doesnt affect us like other musicians. we do it for the music. make your money if thats what you want. pop culture and quick fame are on the way out. our influences are the people who strive for something that will last. we play for the connection that ties the sound, written text, and emotion together
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
personally no. they change your look, they change your sound and then they throw you away when theyre done with you. its quite sickening
Band History:
we first started playing together 3 years ago. it had not been until recently that we really started framing our sound and developing songs. we have only begun our musical road together. as we develop, we find ourselves exploring new styles and discovering new passion. simply put, we enjoy sound. its amazing to manipulate. we already do what we do, we have a blast doin it, now its time to share and we hope that you can enjoy it as well. get down with the get down, its the only way to be........... keep a look out for some additions. we have been playing with drum and bass and just about everything thats willing to play with us. there is much more sound to be had with good times round the bend
Your influences?
there are too many influences to list them all, but i must say that the string cheese incident...billy nershi in general, the dead, steve winwood, blind melon, and the midland band have been the most influential
Favorite spot?
lincoln nebraska is where its at. its a small community that has a great fan base. not only that the actual community still exists. we play to play and everyone has been very supportive. not only that, but we also feel its essential to teach as well as display. its a melting pot of potential and extremely exciting to be involved in something that is still so pure, especially in this time of commodity and exploitation
Equipment used:
we have multiple guitars. we usually use electric-acoustics (alvarez/tekamine) with a marshall acoustic amplifier and a genz benz acoustic amp
Anything else...?
we already do what we do. we feel that its time to share, and hopefully you will enjoy the show
