Why this name?
I was given my stage name by Cleanhead Vinson 25 years ago or so.
Do you play live?
I mostly play in the LA and SF areas. Planning to expand into national touring (again after a 20 year break!) later this year. I love to perform live and love playing with other musicians that know what;s happening when it comes to playing America's roots music.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For the best in my view. Myspace and places like this have given me new hope as a medium to reach listeners who may have enthusiasm for my art.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I suspect a moot point, however I won't be a hypocrite and say I'd turn down money or truly professional career help.
Band History:
My first gig in a dive bar situation was backing Townes van Zandt in Kemah, Texas around 1974 or so. Since then I've played thousands of gigs throughout the America's and Europe as a solo, in bands, as a leader and as a sideman.
Highlights include Clubfoot Orchestra tours and triumphs in the 1980's doing innovative live soundtracks to vintage silent films-we were considered one of the most virtuoso ensembles of the era.
Backing great blues artists such as Eddie Vinson, Christine Kittrell , Lowell Fulsom and many others.
Having artists like Sean Carney, Steve Mackay (Stooges) Joe Paquin, Luke Paquin (Hot Hot Heat), Jerry Miller (Moby Grape) as featured guests in my Revue.
Currently meeting new folks in LA and enjoying playing with folks ranging from youngsters like Sheri Puorto to veterans like Joe Houston.
