It's not so much a band as a collaboration. The lyrics are written by me, Ethan Mawyer, and recorded by someone else.
Why this name?
My original collaborator and I both live on the east coast, and we're recording parodies.
Do you play live?
I'm at Karma Lounge in NYC just about every tuesday performing at the open mic but I don't have a regular schedule apart from that. I don't sing on these recordings anyway.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There's more opportunity for exposure, but also more competition for attention. Overall, I think the impact has been positive.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, sure
Your influences?
Every "real musician" that gets spoofed in a parody posted here, starting with Avril Lavigne, has influenced East Coast Parodies. Weird Al has had an impact too.
Favorite spot?
NYC definitely
Equipment used:
Whatever the people recording use. I don't think that anything is illegal or expensive, but any recording made are done as well as possible considering the limitations of no budget.
