Free lance is my middle name. A friend was leaving a band last week, April 30th, 2008. He offered to have me replace him. I received a call Sunday evening, April 28th, 2008, from the founder of the band asking me to start this week on Wed. night. Of course I accepted because the band, "T. J. and the U.S. Blues" band work each & every week as opposed to the sparratic gigs I had been playing with another band. The singer in that band was retiring anyway. The singer-guitarist & I have been friends since the very early '70's and have played together in 3 or more seperate bands. We have remained friends since we first met & jammed together. He writes great tunes & he is one of the best two male singers in the mid TN area. The other singer would be David Pennycuff out of southern Kentucky.
Why this name?
I refer to myself as 'Third Son' because I'm my mother's 3rd son. The name of the band I recently joined is "T. J. and the U.S. Blues" band and I think 'Skip', the singer, came up with that name seeing how his name is Thomas Jefferson Bean.
Do you play live?
Yes, we play live. We're playing in and around the Cookeville area at this time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows independant labels in on the cash flow that once was confined only to the 'biggies'.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That would depend on what my attorney would say after checking for loop holes in the contract. She is excellent in that area of law.
Band History:
'Skip' is the singer. His vocals are one of our best attributes. I've worked with him several times in the past. His vocal work is priceless.
I have a drummer ( he isn't in this band, yet ), to record with and play live shows in the future. He's an asset to any recording session, and any band. He is currently finishing his own recording studio. I simply call him 'Kenneth'.

Your influences?
Jimi Hendrix to Merle Haggard.
Favorite spot?
Citys? Forget it, I'm a country gentleman!
Equipment used:
I use a '80 American "The Strat" ( LE ), I have a practically new Squire Strat ( Affinity series which sits in a pawn shop at the moment! LOL ) and my bass guitar is a '53 re-issue "Sting" Precision bass. My bass amplifier is a Hartke 'Kick Back 12".
Anything else...?
I want to say thanks to all the people who encouraged me to stick with the guitar & bass guitar, and to those who have helped without knowing it!
I have learned that just when you think you have got to know someone, you actually haven't. This business is flooded with liars, thieves not to mention braggarts with inflated egos. It's a 'dog eat dog' biz with a 'cut throat' motto.
