I'd like to introduce you to a world of inspirational contemporary soul music.
Why this name?
My family chose the band name. My grandmother gave me my first name and my aunt gave me my middle name. I like them both so I infused them and now use them as one; and that is my band name: Rakeem-André
Do you play live?
I sing live at churches throughout Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. I absolutely love singing live, there is something about it that cannot be met by recording in a small quiet tiny room. The true connection to the people and the atmosphere is unmatched.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The MP3 is an amazing breakthrough for the music industry and also, as many know all too well, the down fall of the music industry. At a time when the industry was not advanced enough to protect itself, the MP3 is being used so profusely that people are no longer buying music, but stealing it through the guise of "sharing."
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would most definitely sign a record contract. I would love the opportunity to have a corporation behind me and my efforts to share my talent and skill with the world. I don't believe God would want me to hold it back.
Band History:
Rakeem-Andre has always been here, but formidably as an artist I have been here in your presence since 2005, so I am about 5 years old in the music industry as an independent recording and live performance artist.
Your influences?
Bilal, Usher, Musiq, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Smokie Norful, Donnie McClurkin, Maxwell
Favorite spot?
Boston MA, Las Vegas NV, Greenville SC, Philadelphia PA, Atlanta GA

Condenser Mic, Speakers, Bass Headphones, Track Player, Magix Music Maker, Sony Acid, PC
Anything else...?
