My Band is me. I am Phame and Phortune, I am that which I have created - my beats.
Why this name?
I chose my band name because a lot of people think fame and fortune come from how many people you know and how wealthy you are. I think fame and fortune come from something else. My saying is that, the whole world can love you a little, but if a little of them love you more than the world, it's worth more. Kind of a tongue twister, but I am working on it.
Do you play live?
No but i would love to... Once i embrace the difficulty of playing the keyboard i just got. >:(
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It impacts the industry like an earthquake. From the whole deal with Metallica, to being able to share your music to the world without having a record deal.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No i wouldn't, i love making music on my own schedule and i love the freedom to make what i want when i want. Not what everyone loves.
Band History:
I've been producing my own music as sort of a side hobby for about 4-5 years. But i have just now started really getting into the production scene. I use a program called FL Studio to make all my beats, but I am looking to upgrade to maybe either Cubase, or Logic. If you have any suggestions on which is better I'd be happy to hear them.
Your influences?
My first real musical influence at least the first i can remember. Was a tape i had of Bone Thugs N Harmony. Don't remember the exact name of the tape but it had crossroads on it that was the first time i heard a rap song. Now i don't just love rap, no no no i have a unique other love of music in techno. Now i wasn't really introduced to techno until i had a certain game called frequency it was on ps2 and it was one of the craziest most fun games i've played to date (excluding Guitar Hero), i wasn't that great at it but boy did i love the songs, i played them over and over so they kinda grew on me. Now when i first started making beats i only made techno... or what sounded like techno, probably because that was the only thing i could make that sounded close to any genre!
Favorite spot?
my favorite city would definetly have to be the one i live in right now KC is where its at... though i've never been to Cali and i heard nothing but good things out of there.
Equipment used:
Computer, Mouse, FL Studio, Midi Keyboard, and my own mind. But i've just started building my virtual studio and plan on getting a lot more equipment.
