I write to escape from everyday worries, stress, sh*** even reality. It helps me channel thoughts and feelings into words in a creative way. Expression is really important. And Hip Hop is the way I like to express myself. You'll find that most of my songs have to do with emotions or situations that cause emotional break outs.. Im a very emotional person and I let that speak for me through my shit.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think, as an artist just starting out, that the I-Net is a great way for an emcee to fine tune his skills.. He can drop a song in one day without studio time and load improve in the areas he is lacking. Plus for them cats out performing in clubs he can get a wider audience and see what fans like and dont like. I think its done a lot for cats like me..
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if I had full creative control. I wouldnt want to get signed to some label and have them tell me what I can or cant drop on an LP. Selling records isnt why I do this. I do it because I love hip hop music and as a poet I wouldnt want anyone taking away from MY sh*** and having their stamp on it as well.
Band History:
I started writing poetry when I was 15. Writing about my life and stuff that was on my mind. And I havent stopped Since. I love to write and emceeing is a great way to express my poetry. Ive been spitting my sh*** over beats for a little over a year now.
Your influences?
I have a few. Outkast, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Slug, Aesop Rock, Common.
Favorite spot?
Louisville Kentucky. Where I was born and raised.
Anything else...?
POTRAIT OF A POET LP COMING SOON!!
