Why this name?
The name Pipeline came when we shortened the phrase 'It's in the Pipeline'
Do you play live?
Pipeline gig nationally around the country playing live music venues and festivals. The best gig that we have done would be the opening night at the Levenshulme Palace, Manchester with Belle Vue. The people in Manchester are so up for live music that you can't fail to enjoy playing in the city. Some of the bands special moments would be supporting signed bands like Jet Plane Landing and Antihero. Another highlight would be playing live at the UK's top 20 live bands festival in Wythenshaw Park, Manchester.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has helped us let people from all over the world listen to our music. They can search the web find the music they like listen to our music straight from our site.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think this is the major goal for the band, No body wants to write good songs and not have anyone hear them with a major label you will get the most exposure, the best venues to play at and the major factor being able to devote all your time to writing songs with out work getting in the way.
Band History:
Pipeline are an indie band from Torquay, Devon. They formed in Sept 2001 and have been constantly gigging nationwide. The original line-up included Nick Irwin who played rhythm guitar who was replaced by Rich White when he decided to pursue his education. After a couple of months rehearsing and writing there own material they recorded ‘Stating Here…EP’ which was there 1st release and sold out locally.

Pipeline then entered a national showcase competition that was advertised in the NME. Due to they’re being no regional heat in Devon meant we had to travel to O’Neils Bar, Earls Court, London for their heat. Pipeline managed to beat 5 other bands to both the audience vote and the judge’s vote for a place in the grand final that was held at the same venue. Pipeline came 3rd in the final and caught the eye of some booking agents; this has lead to gigs in The Borderline and Westonefour in London. This lead to there 2nd release ‘live @ westonefour’ a 7 track live album.

The band then has concentrated on gigging around the country, which has taken us from Manchester to Bournemouth, Shrewsbury to London. It has also lead to us to play a couple of live radio sets on Manchester’s ALL.FM and have had several stations play listing our tunes.

The band have recently been working with local label Skittish Records and have supported a number of signed bands around the country including Jet Plane Landing Crackout, Antihero, Sufferkiss, Physchid and Scarlet Soho.

The group has recently played the opening night at the Levenshulme Palace, Manchester and has played live at ‘The Party in the Park’ in Manchester for the top 20 UK live unsigned bands.

The bands 3rd release a four track EP ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ has just been completed. They are now looking to sign a record deal and to go on a tour of Britain.
Your influences?
Pipeline influences are both new and old, Bands such as Oasis, Doves, Ocean colour scene, Stone Roses, The Music, Coldplay, Primal Scream, U2, The Charlatans, Black rebel motorcylce club, Small Faces, Northern Soul, The Jam, Paul Weller, The Kinks
Favorite spot?
I think that the best city we've been to is Manchester, It's got a real buzz about it. The fashion and the music scene is exactly what we look for. They would much rather listen to new fresh music than a cover version which is the opposite from where we come from.
