The Ryan Davis Band is an Austin, TX based touring act. Their rootsy, acoustic sound infused with funky bass riffs and soulful performances has caught on quickly among their fans and is rapidly spreading across the nation.
Why this name?
I had played for quite some time as a solo act....first in Dallas, then in the Austin area, before putting together a band.
Do you play live?
We play live primarily throughout Central Texas (Austin, San Antonio, etc.), and tour across the state. Check out our schedule on myspace.com/ryandavismusic.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet, and the empowerment it gives to independent artists, changes and will continue to change the music industry a great deal. There's an intrigue in unsigned artists that wasn't present before sites such as this and myspace developed. The bottom line is that folks now are seeing that there's more out there than just what's heard on top 40 radio.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not on a whim, but yes. The exposure that can come from the right deal is not easily passed up.
Band History:
2007 has primarily been spent completing / promoting our 2nd album, "Soul's Tide".

Here's a rundown of 2006, copied from a blog on our myspace page:

The band kicked off their 2006 tour in downtown Austin, Texas on the famous 6th Street in May.

Things heated up fast when the guys performed live on Austin's KLBJ 93.7 on the popular Dudley & Bob Morning Show June 29th. You can listen to "Rain", from their EP, Tuesdays on Loris Lowe's Local Licks.

The Fox 7 News Morning Show invited the guys for an interview and live television performance June 30th from 7 AM to 8 AM. The band then hosted the VIP after-party jam for the Red, White and Blues Festival on July 1st at Nuno's on Sixth. Festival headliners included Big Head Todd and The Monsters, GE Smith (of Saturday Night Live Fame), and Hubert Sumlin.

A live interview and performance on Austin's KOOP 91.7 "The Greenroom" was followed by a repeat appearance on FOX 7 News In The Morning. They returned to KLBJ for an interview/performance on Loris Lowe's Local Licks on September 26th.

Notable venues throughout the tour included the popular Carlos'n Charlie's, Alligator Grill, The Backroom and Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin; Hanover's in Pflugerville, and numerous others throughout Central Texas (see Tour History blog). The band has shared the stage with nationally acclaimed acts as well as Austin-area favorites, including Hubert Sumlin, Malford Milligan, Alan Haynes, Gary Clark Jr., and Harold Say (bassist-KC and the Sunshine Band). They can be heard on Austin's KLBJ 93.7 and KOOP 91.7, as well as San Antonio's KSYM 90.1 and KRTU 91.7.

Your influences?
We're influenced by those who push the limits of what can be done; those who's music expresses passion and somewhat of an insight into their soul. That's vague, I realize, but why pin ourselves down? Music should always retain it's artistic quality, and art should never be bound.
Favorite spot?
We play Austin primarily, but it's the little dives in the out-of-the-way towns that I really enjoy.
