Cider Baby was born in the summer of 2005 and are based in Brighton, East Sussex United Kingdom. Cider Baby have been writing music for over twenty five years in different genres under various guises and names. Cider Baby uses real acoustic and electronic instruments to produce their ideas. We are enthusiastically open minded about other genres and eras of music and music history. We are in the process of recording new songs and will upload them as soon as they are ready. Cider Baby believes that ideas are the most important part in the creative process. I’m also (by trade) a freelance graphic designer - when I can get the work...
Why this name?
I saw a man in a pub (bar) one night some time ago and all he drank was pints and pints of cider. He had the most enormous protruding stomach I’ve ever seen. He looked nine months pregnant. I thought he’s feeding his ‘cider baby’ and that’s how the name stuck.
Do you play live?
No live gigs planned yet as we are a studio band at the moment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has completely revolutionised the music industry, which is a good thing. Music and creating music and getting it heard is far more accessible than it was twenty years ago when all the big greedy record companies monopolised every aspect of the business.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if they did NOT interfere with our ideas, approach and attitude and what we produce creatively.
Your influences?
A lot of electronic dance, pop, ambient electronica and classical music. Artists influences: Brian Eno, David Bowie, Buzzcocks,Talking Heads, David Byrne, Air, Pere Ubu, King Crimson, Aphex Twin, Morcheeba, Fad Gadget, Kraftwerk, Goldfrapp, Artic Monkeys.
