perfect disaster is four guys, piano, drums, bass, guitars and the occasional clapping part. with influences ranging from something corporate and saves the day to jimmy eat world, perfect disaster is a mix of catchy pop and punk energy.
Do you play live?
the tall kid goes psycho that's all i know
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
despite the industry's finger-pointing at mp3 sharing for the recent decline of music sales, i think for bands with good stuff that otherwise would not be heard, the internet and mp3s are essential for them to be broken into the industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
if the chance arose it would be considered, but personally we'd be more apt to jump on an independent label like vagrant or drive thru.
Band History:
the perfect disaster "thing" got started when i was recording demos for rockview, a project that i had been working on with an amazing guitarist named ben roque. i recorded 8 or 9 songs without guitar and was planning on waiting for ben to lay down some guitar tracks, but impatience got the best of me and i added piano. needless to say i wasn't extremely happy with "reaching out for more" and "three weeks", the first of the songs, and i wasn't impressed with the way any of the other stuff came out either. but in january 2002 some friends overheard the songs and asked for cds, so i figured i'd put some sh*** up. since then the style has developed and become less poppy, with more influences from the live shows that have been done with an amazing band including one of the best drummers i've ever had the chance to meet, sam karcher, the aforementioned guitarist, ben roque, and tristan needler adding bass to the mix. ben and i are currently recording demos for a new cd that should be out later this year, and the new songs really represent the musical and lyrical maturity that i think this project has developed over the past year
Your influences?
something corporate, jimmy eat world, saves the day, ataris, ben folds, u2
