With an elastic talent that allows him to float gracefully between simplistic acoustic melodies, ballads and pop tunes, J. Atkins is a bona fide musician whose contemporary worship tunes speak to the heart of the soul.

Why this name?
Its actually my name. All of my friends call me J, so I use J.
Do you play live?
Yes. All over the world. There's large jazz festivals, concerts, churches, private parties, weddings. Everything.

When I play with other artists, and Ive written a segueway or part of a song, its always nice to hear how it turns out with the band playing live, and to see how the people respond to it.

Right now, Ive got the My Sacrifice album, with stuff on it that I've done for praise and worship. The album is being released July 2007, so I'm really focused on promoting it and making it known to everyone who supports the vision, (and those who should too).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a powerful tool for artists and business owners across the board. It allows artists greater access to music and resources and gives people a greater platform to perform and promote without having to jump through the hoops of standard majors and distribution .

Listeners can also get to a lot more artists than they could pre-internet, and I think it helps artists across the board.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Thats a hard one to say. The reality is there are lots of ways for artists to get their music out there, the premise being, an artist should find the best possible method to promote his or her music whether it be a traditional record deal or a more private vehicle.

Record labels are a viable option, but there are many more options on the market today, and its up to me, as an entrepreneur and musician to find the best way to promote my music. If the best route is a major label deal, Ill do that, if its independent, Ill do that.
Band History:
