quphonic came to life as an attempt to unlock the massive creative potential of electronic music. not trying to make hits, just trying to make something different. you be the judge.
Why this name?
true: all the other ones i wanted were taken(i was down to my 22nd choice). my first choice was decimal, who is actually an MC in san diego. so i made a word up... it's a shorter version of quadraphonic.
Do you play live?
Strictly a lab rat for right now and loving it. That could change in the future, I suppose.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Takes the power away from greedy, unimaginative corporations and gives it back to the people, who had better fight to keep it. It changes everything.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
hmmm.... never say never.
Your influences?
Kraftwerk, Digable Planets, Dangermouse, Beck, Devo, FSOL, Charles Mingus, Massive Attack. I guess the best genres to describe the sound are downtempo, electronica, trip-hop, experimental.
