After leaving my previous band in 2004, I started Culture's Reply as an outlet for my pent up creative energies.
Why this name?
It's derived from the same book my first album is based on (Daniel Quinn's "The Story Of B").
Do you play live?
Not yet, but I'm currently on hiatus while I gather equipment and like-minded people. I intend on putting together unique, inventive live performances by next year.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It strips the power from the major labels, and allows independent artists a greater voice. It also allows a whole lot of crap to leak through to the surface.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No.
Your influences?
Sounds with texture. Sounds that convey meaning without words. Here are a few artists/people that contributed to the conception and evolution of Culture's RepTipper - Amon Tobin - DJ Shadow - Ratatat - Boards of Canada - The Orb - Kid Loco - Mogwai - Sigur Ros - Arab Strap - Air - Dredg - Cold Cut - Elliott - Hum - Ez3kiel - Portishead - God Lives Underwater - God Speed! You Black Emporer - High Contrast - Frou Frou - Last Days of April - LTJ Bukem - London Elektricity - Massive Attack - Prefuse 73 - The Postal Service - Radiohead - Team Sleep - Josh Brayton - Kurtis Monson - Andrew Hahn - Cracker
