Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

I like the way it start off very sinister then takes us off into an eerie, haunting journey. A supernatural, chilling, ghostly vibe throughout and you find yourself strangely drawn to it...like being inside a dream. Mesmeric stuff...brilliantly composed and produced.

The intro had me wanting to play Silent Hill II, so the morph into Haight-Ashbury Horror really caught me by surprise! Dig that melody with the minor-major-minor modulation in the middle. Groovy and creepy at the same time - a very cool fusion.

Caarlo this is magnefariousent seriously you outdid yourself here......this is wonderfully decadent trick or treatness ...WOW I love this...Shadow Beings???? saying come with me????? Did this really occur or is this just a phantasmagoria you brewed up. Or did a shadow being really come into your hotel room and scare the sweet bejesus outta you? THis is quite creative......conjures up some darkness for me but I know tis a phantasm......Brilliance created here as only Carlo can fashion to somehow take me to a haunted cottage in Santa Barbara where I first hand experienced some strange happenings because inside the cottage there was ancient really ancient antiques and I couldnt stay because of poltergiests .......THis was a true happening...I shall never go there overnight again...Your always leads me to my favorite spots in California.....I always see SanFrancisco and that crazy little turn off before the Seventeen MIle Drive....OMG how I miss it there....YOU always seem to conjure my pleasant stays up north when I hear your mood inducing songs.. and thats a cool very cool thing Carlo.......~Kath

Bringing something mystical and magical. A dream world, another world. Special sounds.

And when you see the title, you remark the meaning of this song. The wind IS everywhere, free to go everywhere.

When you look closer. The title is "My Name is the Wind". My name? What my name? That makes it even more mysterious.

Interesting. Yes, the title is mystical and magical too.
