Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

Wow, I like this one. Dreams and mysteries everywhere around while making a psychedelic trip.I like the organ sound here (makes it kind of unusual in my opinion) and of course the lead guitar is top.

Yes, you're right, this one is surely underrated. We all should play it very often. Good job, Carlo and David!
Just re-visiting Autumn Leaves with David Briggs and Arid Hobo Highway Blues both very atmospheric songs with a fantastic vibe. Arid Hobo Highway Blues is still one of my all time favorites SC tracks - it has an amazing psychedelic element to it and is totally captivating.

Very nice soundscapes and great playing. Like always there is a 1970's tone to your music Carlo, the lead guitar on this one reminds me of George Harrison at times. The whole piece has a dreamy, psychedelic feeling, without ever losing it's course. The musicianship is awesome and the whole piece is just a gem. I understand why you think it's a bit underrated smile :)

It feels like Rhythmos is giving another direction to Carlo's music. It becomes a kind of exotic psychedelic mixture, could be a soundtrack of a bizarre movie.

Going into a special, unknown world while listening. Take care that you don't go too deep into it. You could get completely lost.

Nice one, very original, Carlo and Rhythmos!

Several musical styles come together and the tune is full of surprises. Blues style bass and jazzy guitars mixed with retro organs. The intro lets you think you know what's coming, but BAM, suddenly the song takes a whole new direction and stays there, exploring that new, exiting area. Very nice piece, Carlo and yes, a great drum track!

A cavalcade of fantastic retro- psychedelic melodies…over a titillating drum beat. Highly creative mind-bending sound. Love the organ. Grat collab.
