Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

Good work with that new ebow, and good job keeping it tasteful and subtle - I tend to be a subtle as a brick through a window with mine, heh.

Eastern mystical vibe, a common melodic element in your music for me. Cool intro. Nice guitar work and production. Do you own a sitar? - seems like it would be a good fit for you. oh, as I writing this hit the 3:09 bridge - very nice! Cool keys/organ. Very nice track Carlo!

This feels like you take the listener by the hand to show your most beautiful places. It's exiting (something you have never experienced before) and at the same time quiet (acoustic sounds).

There is a very good building up here (getting more and more wild) and there is the typical Carlo sound. I like the way you are using the flutes here as well, hidden on the background and mysterious.

Enjoyed it, good for a movie.

This puts me right into "daydream mode" and sounds great! There is nothing wrong with daydreaming - the sounds of the guitar and keys blend nicely...oh, at 1:45 you surprised me.
I'm drifting away to serenityville...

Yes, this is Halloween, especially the first part. Scary, thriller tunes.

In the second part the atmosphere is much more friendly and it feels like you are telling a story which happened very long ago. Maybe times were better then.

Nice experience again, Carlo!
