Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

Just catching up with the new releases here, loved that summer Buddha sound, is that a new genre lol? But the beat sits so well, with the electric guitar and general harmonic vibe, enjoyed, superb production, L

Great title, great music. What more could you want on a nice summer day? Love the floaty feel that comes in near the 3 minute mark.

What a wonderful song title and tune, Carlo! I saw a great
TV Program recently on Buddha. It was most interesting, but
your creative song would have enhanced the documentary production. Again, your playing is excellent, with a "laidback" mood perfect for the Summer - and First Clickers Club Song Challenge! Thanks for the pleasure of this peadeful song, and the dl to our JBBQ Best of Best Songs Music Player.

Carlo you knew I would love this tune...I do...Its got Buddha shooting the curl in my psychedelic psyche...Kuan Yins catching sunrays and she is tall and tan and young and lovely as she goes walking...The girl from Bodhisattva goes walking and when she passes each one she passes goes ah!!!!!!!! When she sways its like a mantra that sings so cool and sways so gently shes making mudras and singing mantra s goes ah!!!!!!! Alright Im officially certified....its 3:51in the morning...I had caffienated green tea smoothies today so Im definitely zoned out cant sleep...This song is quite lovely...YOUR music always takes me out of my self and onto nuances of Pacific Coast Hwy and if there was ever a sound for california music.....YOU nailed it............BLessings in love and light, Namaste ~Katherine

I really liked this Carlo. Nice mix of instrumentation and loved the lead guitar when it wanders thru the stereo field. Mostly i like the almost chanting vibe..so easy to visualize the relentless surf, gulls overhead, and the unbroken horizon of sky and sea. Excellent soundscape!

The unmistakeable D'Anna sound, perfectly shaped to the summer mood. This is the end of the day, as the sun is setting, and everyone's loading their boards back onto the vans as the shadows lengthen on the beach. And the Buddha is smiling.
Brilliant smile :)

I immediately recognize your typical sound here (filter), like this tune is played on an old record player.

It's so calm, relaxed. With a lot of 70's feeling in it.
Melancholic.

When you start to sing it sounds very familiair (2:56). It must be a band with that typical sound (Pink Floyd, Beach Boys?) bringing back that time.

I like the mystery you have put here, your guitar work and the very relaxed mood. Very nice, Carlo!

Hi Carlo! Warm, good-time groove here - parts remind me of Hendrix's Angle. Also, thank you for your work on the CC Summer Time Theme challenge. It was fun. And thanks again for your comments on my track, 'Heat Wave'...ALC.
