description
Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

This has the wonderfully unconventional chord changes that have become your trademark and I so love about your music! Great dream construction with swirling sounds, something sounds like water and maybe some backwards speech - very well done and superbly mixed. And those lead parts (e-bow & 'tron) are pure Carlo magic!

Really interesting idea to write a song about Ganymede. I will look to the sky, when in need of an idea for a new song smile :)
The ongoing keyboard notes insist on pushing this piece forward through an Aladdin's Cave of beautiful and psychedelic sounds. The vocals blend in beautifully and the violin is heartbreaking. Great stuff from everyone involved!

What a brilliant song. The haunting and evocative vocal is taken to a celestial level by the amazing Zoz and Adri. I love everything about this - but most of all the fantastic picture it paints - dancing Ganymede - wonderful stuff Carlo!

Awfully nice sounds you are making! This is so nice, reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd. I hear you are putting the E-Bow to work. It sure sounds amazing! Very nice chord changes, sometimes surprising you. As always super work and I can't get enough of that trade mark sound from you that is so great!

I also hear the hand of Gilmour in this as inspiration - wonderful collab with Astronomusic!

Very cinematic, dreamy sounds. Surreal in several ways, but still with that signature Carlo sound. A groovy progression to lead the procession.

Your vocals & vocal harmonies are very cool here Carlo! I here a little Dave Gilmore in the vocals. The synth & violin are sweet. A dreamy ethereal track. Just beautiful music & great collab with Astronomusic.
