Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.
Why this name?
.
My Soundclick angle "Ridiculous Dream"?
Isn't life one?
Do you play live?
I have played mainly as a street musician and in Folk life fairs in the town of Santa Cruz, Calif. and in a few gigs with others. I have formed a small group of like-minded fools to play in my area as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole pandemonium of sounds which is neither negative, nor positive. It just lays it straight on the table, like a combo pizza!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, for a six figures deal! Why the hell not?
Or even two figures...
...or even ten cents?
...spare change?
Your influences?
I listen to alot of 70's Prog-Rock and obscure European RIO (Rock in Opposition), and World.
My Favs are early Genesis, Danny Kirwan of early Fleetwood Mac, Anthony Phillips, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hackett, King Crimson, Leo Kotke, John Fahey, Spirit, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Michael Hedges, some jazz and classical. And let us not forget the great Ren and Stimpy. My own interest is Fingerstyle Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Favorite spot?
Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel California. Olympic Rain Forest.
Equipment used:
Six string Ovation Guitar, 12 string acoustic/electric Takamine dread. Gibson electric semi-hollow body guitar, Martin Dreadnaught 6 string guitar, Asian Bamboo flute, tabla and tamborine. I also now use M-tron, Sampletron, IK Multimedia Fender.
I record using Protools 8.01. Xpand, BFD Drums
Anything else...?

You are the Kazoo Master! Gets strange at 1:50, but then, it was already strange. Your 10,000 hours of practicing the kazoo has paid off! Nice change of pace to all the holiday madness smile :)

Oh, I really like that song picture here. Really funny.

And the track is funny too and totally psychedelic, but I wonder if everything is OK with you. Mushrooms can be very dangerous.

Yes, you make me smile. Nice one!

I just realized I didnt comment on this yet....I caught it at facebook......I love the way you play Carlo.....YOur way is definitely original style.....Lovethe guitar........I hear an ebow......it reminds me of just kicking back with incense and playing PInk FLoyd dark side of the moon and making playdough plaques whilst watching cartoons with no sound but pink floyd......I actually use to do this before I started drawing on black paper and using prisma color pencils.....I would use the rolling pin and make my water you know sea and put in little stones by making little roudn and misshapen balls make the tree and rollingit softly with rolling pin it would get like inlay Id let it dry and I would also make magnets for refrigerators.... this was in the early 80s.....then I realized playdough doesnt harden right... so I utilized sculpey.....THen when I got tired of that I started making wax art on chrome coat paper with a hotplate a n elec. pen and crayons and aluminum foil.......Its all in the garage some wheres.....BUt it was like a little ritual for me .......I love your style Carlo... It always takes me back to memories....and I love that about your music......Intense sound quality.....Perfection..........~Kath

I love this Carlo....this makes Christmas a whole lot easier to get through with kazoo.....in hand........hahaha Drumnjon bought me one last Christmas along with some mini drums you put on your desk top....hes got all the songs weve done written on them......BY the way I should have taken a pic of the magic mushrooms on our front yard lawn...We pulled them out cause they were poisonous and some little kids wanted to eat them so we terminated some fairy villages, I felt bad to dis locate them from the lawn but I didnt want any probies with dogs eatingthem and dying or cats for that matter or children or dumbass people who were curious.....We couldnt figure out how they would have gotten there and gotten so big in such a short amound of time....A Barbie doll could sit on them for a small couch thats how big they were and they were so pretty but deadly we were guessin......Certainly not the shroom variety that was edible.....I didnt want to take a risk or chance of someone getting ill from stupid curiousity.....I love your creativity here......It truly is a brilliant moody track but festive in a sort of circque du soile sort of way......Very visual.....or definitely a trip down a rabbit hole.......My guess a lovecraft rabbit hole at that............It made me smile this morning.........~Kath

Great stuff there, Carlo. Very nice guitar sound and that signature 70's-experimenting-band sound, that I like so much. Your music has it's own rules and it's own ways. Your sound is really unique and it is always a pleasure to listen to it!
