I am a songwriter, who intends to gather a band, and maybe learn to sing. I do a kinda rocky style of music, the two songs that I consider complete have been likened to Audioslave/RATM in parts for one, and the other song has two main riffs one of which is like Jet, and the other is like Graham Coxon...
Do you play live?
I don't play live at the moment, but intend to practice a bit and maybe start.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it far more accessible for people like me, as I can record and release songs by myself (obviously they wont get far like that, but still...). I'm in favour of it in general, though personally I still buy CDs as they are just better! If I ever record any songs properly there will be CDs with special stuff to discourage mp3s!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, probably, not gonna happen though is it?!
Your influences?
Ocean Colour Scene, The Offspring, Audioslave/Rage Against the Machine, Blur, Graham Coxon, Feeder, Matt Costa, The Levellers, Jet, The Vines, Reef, Kula Shaker... The list goes on, but they're the main ones. Newer influences include Flipron and Kaizers Orchestra.
Favorite spot?
Possibly Oslo, Norway for visits, otherwise Hartland, Devon (my home town). Might now add various parts or the Taff trail out of Cardiff, especially Castel Coch!
Equipment used:
Two Ibanez guitars (a JS100 and a 1980's Blazer custom), an Epiphone Junior valve amp. Pedals: a Marshall the Guv'nor overdrive, a Marshall Jackhammer OD/Dist, a WahWah (unimpressive brand) and a Dan Electro Talk-Back reverse delay pedal. also a battered old (nylon) accoustic and cheapo soprano ukulele. A recent addition to my kit is a 12 string acoustic. I like to pretend I have a degree of skill on the piano, but I'm just kidding myself really! I have recently taken up the violin, so maybe some more of my folky influences will start to appear?
