August 27, 2001. "The Road", our bands first worldwide release debuted. Little did we know, two weeks later, the world would change forever and our lives would never be the same again. The events and aftermath of 911 would bring even the mightiest to their knees! I'm sure that I'm not the only one whose spent the lion's share of this past decade on their knees searching and struggling for reasons why and answers to not only 911, but to the subsequent tragedies of Hurricane Katrina, The Tsunami and the Earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Mexico and now China! As if I wasn't already searching! Were these the acts of an unforgiving, impatient God? What can one man do? Do something! "Let us not judge or justify, when there but for the grace of God go I," is what Can You Hear Us is about! And NEVER FORGETTING THAT! I've always been a firm believer in if not me who, if not now, when? We've found that by just changing our focus (off ourselves,) and tuning into how we can better the situations we find, or place, ourselves in is how change occurs. A most rewarding and highly contagious avenue to pursue, I must say! (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE ANIMALS? Truth be told I've always considered myself, if anything, an animal lover who sings, not a singer that loves animals! I recently heard a great quote by Kahil Gibran, "Out of great suffering emerge the strongest of souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars." I don't know how massive my character is, but Man, do I feel seared with scars!! I can only imagine what it must have been like to personally live through such catastrophic events! Having crowned myself "the queen of grief" after living through the experiences that found their way into the songs off The Road CD, I had no idea what was coming for me with this past decade of despair, much less what would be required of me to write and record all the new songs I'm so stoked about...or did I? I can honestly say now, having soldiered through all of it, The Lights Are Back On... Private Pamme returning to duty!!! (Oh yeah, we have NOT FORGOTTEN OUR TROOPS.)
