Visual artist Jovani (Jo) and multi-instrumentalist J.A.McArdle (Joe) are improvising artists developing their songs from recorded jam sessions. Drawing from a wide range of musical influences from pop, spiritual, free jazz, and world music, these vocal tunes maintain much of the loose spontaneous feel of the original improvised versions. Jovani responds to the music with vocals that take an intimate look at the dark corners of her life in hoping to shed light on a world that she feels leaves a lot to be desired.
Do you play live?
We have performed/improvised live on occasion but primarily focus on creating new material in the studio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We fully expect that eventually all human beings on this planet will each have a web site with original music of great diversity available to all. At this point, the music industry will consist solely of producers, performers and promoters of strictly commercial products. The Internet will bring Creative Arts back to the common folk without any commercial media influence.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If signing with a major label will help to get this type of music heard by more people without compromise, then we have no choice.
Your influences?
Improvisational music of all styles. Any grass roots, ethnic, or spiritual music from around the world. Timeless music is always influential no matter when or where it is made.
