Why this name?
Well...it just happens to be my name!
Do you play live?
You can find me singing my heart out unto the Lord and playing keys for the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Harrow most Sunday afternoons, alongside various gigs both in the UK and internationally. I'm so blessed to be able to do what I love, for Who I love and whenever the people meet Jesus through what I do...that's a special moment for me.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives the artist more control and freedom over their work, and it gives Joe Public better access to different types of music rather than us being spoonfed the latest 'sensation' or the next big thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I guess that depends on the terms...
Band History:
Though I've been singing for most of my young life I've only had the ability to write my own songs since becoming a Christian in 97. Then I joined a gospel girl-quartet called 4 His Glory which sang at mostly local and national church events within the denomination I belonged to back then. The group dwindled in size over the years until there was just me. Doors began to open for my gift to reach beyond the four walls of the church but it wasn't until 2005 that I put out my first radio promo and the release of my first single Feels So Good/We'll Overcome in 2006.
Your influences?
My earliest musical influences range from The Jacksons, Odyssey, Donna Summer, EWF and Stevie Wonder, to T-Rex, Blondie, The Jam and The Specials through to John Holt, Brown Sugar and Althea & Donna.

I grew up loving anything you could dance to, i was the dancehall queen of 90's bashment, r&b, etc...anything 'urban' I guess. But even before this i was feeling disco, i was feeling early Chicago house, even some trance and techno (up to a point).

Later on came all the funk and fusion legends including Roy Ayers, all the old school and rare-groove soul of people like Loose Ends, and Gwen McCrae. Later still, the Brand New Heavies, Incognito and the Acid Jazz thing influenced my writing.

SO I guess you could say...expect pretty much anything when you listen to Lisa Mayers.

Favorite spot?
Seen a few places around the globe but can't say I've found it yet, though I do love my home town of ST ALBANS. Holla!!!
Equipment used:
Mainly Cubase SX 2, Ableton Live 7, various plugins...
Anything else...?
Stay on the look out for more new material, I do hope to be able to release my album Fix Your Mind in the near future but in the meantime there'll be plenty for folks to digest.

Through my music I am unashamedly on a mission to bring the fragrance of the knowledge of Jesus Christ to a world which has lost its way. The good news...like you've never heard it before!
