Why this name?
My first name is Gary.... hence where the "G" comes from. And if you're down with ya Dog's then you get the nickname "Dog". It's just that simple. And I had to make sure it's always written as "The" GDog because I've had the nickname since about 1992... effectively pre-dated all these lil punk-ass "wiggers" you now see. Besides... what the f*** is a Wigger anyway? Why does enjoying a certain style of music make you a color?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Computer technology, specifically digitizing music into transmittable formats has broken the strangle hold that Vinyl and Tape Record Labels had over the pricing of their products. Now anybody with a computer and time on their hands and the will power has the potential to get their music out their. Also I believe the real money (for the artist) can now only be made with live shows since file-sharing severely cuts-down the money earned at the consumer level.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If they allowed me creative freedom, sure,, why not.
Band History:
TheGDog's musical taste forever changed once he heard "Rapper's Delight" back in 1978. In Jr. High my generation put Break-Dancin' and Pop-Lockin' on the map. In High School it was all about two-turntable Backyard Flyer parties w/ party crews. As a young man, the club scene and the Internet turned him onto the darker side of musical expression. Now periodically he mates his sick mind with today's powerful sound manipulation software and various instruments to form truly unique compositions.
Let's just put it this way... if you saw me on the street, or sitting at the desk next to you... ain't no way in hell you'd ever imagine me grabbin the MIC and spittin this sick isht.
I grew up in Carson, CA (which is next to Compton, Gardena, Long Beach, etc.) near where the 110 and 405 Fwy's intersect.
Around the same age as Ice Cube and LLCoolJ.
