Antithesis13 plays music primarily consisting of electronic sounds & vocals, varying widely in style & quality.
Why this name?
I chose it because it represents cognitive dissonance, the world's & my own in opposition to one another.
Do you play live?
I've only had a few live appearances so far, most of them rather ill conceived & likewise fated. I'm hoping to change that soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it gives me the chance to hear a lot of music that I've wanted to hear for years. Still, I think there's something much more satisfying about buying a CD vice downloading songs.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if I truly believed that they would supply me with limitless musical gear & good wine.
Band History:
I took piano lessons for many years as a child. I didn't practice or pay attention nearly enough, which I regret now tremendously. Still, I can play the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata pretty well. My activities on the piano now mainly consist of strange random improvisations with a fixation on D minor.
My first real musical obsessions were hard rock & heavy metal such as Alice In Chains, Metallica, Danzig, Pantera, and Slayer. Somewhere along the way I was introduced to Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Leæther Strip and Dead Can Dance which transformed my view of music. Since then I have relentlessly pursued & enjoyed new music both above & underground, following the paths I was initially set upon by the bands mentioned above.
My parents lovingly bought me a Korg DW-8000 for my birthday, when I was maybe... 18-20 years old. This was the start of my "recording" career. My earliest recording consisted of the Korg, me screaming & wailing, a dictaphone containing samples from Hellraiser 2 & my buddy Mitch speaking (played forwards & backwards at various speeds), wine glasses full of water, a tribal drum, all run through a guitar distortion pedal into my brother's bass amp, recorded on a tape recorded sitting in front of said amp.
Since then most of my music has been either played on the Korg or sequenced with FL Studio, sometimes with vocals & sometimes not. I'm looking to expand, & trying to figure out how.

Your influences?
Skinny Puppy, Coil, nine inch nails, Ministry, Wumpscut, Aphex Twin, Leæther Strip, Laibach, Dead Can Dance, Björk, Death In June, Samael, Bethlehem, Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows, rap instrumentals, soundtracks (Requiem For a Dream etc. etc.)...
There are lots of other influences, but I am a man trying to make music mainly on his computer, so those above are the most relevant
