Paul Cipro is a lyrical rock artist. If you like guitar centered music with a message, he is for you.
Why this name?
I have been using this name for a while, my real name is Paul Tylenol.
Do you play live?
Yes - NYC, and local. I post upcoming shows on my website, www.paulcipro.com.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has been an incredible change. The venue allows non-commercial, non-mainstream artists an opportunity to be heard. That said, there is an argument that the music pool is more "flooded" by anyone being able to upload anything... I guess it depends on your perspective.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definitely - if there still are any "major labels" around.
Band History:
I have been playing and writing music for over 20 years. I will only finish a song if I am inspired, and then only post it if I think the meaning within the song comes through. I believe in the power of music, still - despite the fact that society has refocused lately, and music seems to have taken a backseat to various other forms of media.
Your influences?
I have been influenced by so many artists of so many genres, it would be impossible to cite any one or even few that stand out. I thank every musician that has left an imprint inside of me.
Favorite spot?
I enjoy playing some of the venues in Huntington and Port Jefferson - I also enjoy playing in the Village.
Equipment used:
That varies. I play a Peavey electric from the late 1980's when I record electric, and a Favilla acoustic from the same time period when I record acoustic. I have used Yamaha electric guitars and Charvel acoustics as well. I also use Korg and Yamaha synthesizers quite a bit.
Anything else...?
I appreciate anyone taking the time to listen to my music. I have heard some fantastic artists on Soundclick, and am humbled by the unsigned talent that is here. If one of my songs moves one person, then I have accomplished my goal.
