Kacey Musgraves is a singer songwriter-Texas born and Texas proud. She has been performing professionaly from an early age gaining experience, learning instruments and playing live shows.

Now at age 18, she has released her self-titled debut album and is currently promoting her first single, "Back to Texas", to radio.

Kacey's most recent stop on her musical journey was appearing on the 5th season of USA Network's, "Nashville Star". She was one of ten finalists selected out of over 20,000 hopefuls vying for a spot on the show-but didn't win. "Nashville Star was an amazing opportunity. I definitely don't see not winning as a bad thing. I'm young and have plenty of time to earn my grit on the road. I'm not a quitter." Kacey wrote 10 of the 12 cuts on the album, several of which were co-written with fellow Texan, Miranda Lambert. "Writing is such a huge part of who I am. I want my music to be taken serious. It's my story...no one's going to write it for me." The songs that weren't written by Kacey on the album are two well deserving, well chosen covers. "I grew up hearing Neil Young at home and was inspired to pick up the harmonica, so cutting, "Heart of Gold" felt natural. I'd call myself an old-soul. I picked out an old "Byrd's" album from my grandpa's record collection. When I heard the song, "You're Still On My Mind", I knew instantly I had to record it." Kacey's music hints of influences like Loretta Lynn, Chris Knight, Radney Foster and Tom Petty with a love for old-school country music. She enjoys performing live and loud and plays the mandolin, guitar and harmonica. "I want to see more females playing on the Texas music scene. So I'm going to put myself out there, work hard, and have fun."

This spitfire brunette is proving she has something to say and real, honest music to be heard. Texas has taken notice.
Why this name?
Well, my parents picked it out when I was born! Haha
Do you play live?
YES! In Texas, I love it. Playing at the Texas State Fair was a favorite last year.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it makes more types of music available, music that people love but would never fit in the "corporate machine".
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That's a big step but yes, if it was a good contract!
Band History:
Kacey started playing music at an early age, performing western music and yodeling her way into appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America and the 2002 Winter Olympics. Recording two award winning CDs in the yodeling/western music genre before graduating from high school convinced her to forego college and continue to pursue a career in music.
Now 20, Kacey enjoys performing live and plays the guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Kacey is one of those performers who seem to make new friends - and fans - wherever she goes. She is a native East Texan and proud of it. She was very excited to be the only Texan on "Nashville Star" 2007 season.
Your influences?
Kacey’s music blends elements of musical influences like Loretta Lynn, Chris Knight, Radney Foster and Creedence Clearwater Revival with a love for good ol' traditional country music.
Favorite spot?
I love Austin, TX and floatin' the river in Gruene!
