Why this name?
I'm a creator of low-end thunder, so I took the name of the Norse God Thor. I was actually nicknamed Thor before even picking up a bass by classmates in high school. The "Bass Maniac" part came from my sometimes eccentric playing style.
Do you play live?
I play live as many times as possible. Usually I am with one of my two bands, Down From Nothing or Walking Void.

A special moment came when Down From Nothing played at the Whisky a Go Go and then a week later the remaining members of The Doors took the exact same stage. It was a blast before, during, and after!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I always felt that music should be free, coming from the belief that The Greatful Dead and others instilled upon many people. The internet allows for this to be done easier than ever.

At the same time, however, I believe that if one truly appreciates and enjoys material being put out by someone, they should do their part to support them. This doesn't have to be with money, but a few bucks for a CD, shirt, sticker or mp3 is reasonable in this regard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I long ago asked myself this, and I decided that I will always take less money for more freedom. If there was a company ready to give me money to record/tour and were happy with giving me space to breath personally and musically, then I definately would.
Your influences?
Musical influences range from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones to Opeth, The Mars Volta to Gackt, Kaki King to The Advantage. I enjoy the majority of music genres and attempt to pull from and contribute to every style of music.
Favorite spot?
I prefer rural areas to cityscapes, nature more than industry.

Yosemite is a wonderful, inspirational place.
