Through Darkness is a portuguese Extreme/Melodic Death Metal band.Formed in the summer of 2006 by Bruno "Shark" Pereira (Vocals;lyrical concepts)and Élvio Rodrigues (Guitars;drum programming;narratives & flute),the band has a complex and very unique sound,with influences raging from genres as diverse as Death Metal,Viking/Folk Metal and Ambient/Atmospheric Music.Every track is unique in its own way,with brutality contrasting with sorrowful melodies and folkish acoustic guitars.The band is currently composing and recording the songs for their first EP,to be realeased in early 2007.The EP will be a semi-concept album,with the first part of the demo (1 Intro,2 Songs and 1 Finale) based mostly on abstract themes and metaphors,and the second half of the album (again 1 Intro,2 Songs and 1 Finale) based on finnish mythology,with excerpts taken from the Kalevala-The national epic of Finland. Instrumentally,the first half of the EP will be heavier and more uptempo,and the second half will be more melancholic and epic,with acoustic guitars and flutes.The band expect to start recording and re-recording the songs in the beggining of February.
