A note from Retta:
Hi every one. Thanks for checking out my music. At times you'll find "rough drafts" of my songs here, either recorded by some one other than myself, or rehearsal recordings. I believe that fans should be a part of each aspect of the music, even when it's not the best quality. It puts fans right in the studio, on the couch with the artist, even if they are not *really* there.

What fans are saying:

Alonzo Bodin of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno:
"WOW, she has an incredible voice!"

Melvin Franklin of the Temptaions:
"Incredibly gifted with the voice of an angel. As soon as I heard her, I knew I had to sing with her."

Nell Carter (Ain't Misbehavin):
This girl is amazing! She sings from the heart and her lyrics are straight from the soul.

Millena Dawn:
"From the minute she opens her mouth, you're captured, and that soulful voice resonates in your very being....she is music in it's purest form"

Tina D (formerly with Death Row Records):
Retta's voice is angelic. The first time I heard her sing I was in awe. Being that I had worked in the music industry for years, I heard all kinds of sounds, and Hannah's was like none I'd heard before. Hannah sings with her heart and soul. She is passionate about her music, and reflects that passion. That's what will take her all the way to the top of the charts.

Bill A & Joceyln of Touch Tunes Entertainment:
"Retta .... What's not to love about her? The richness of her soul & spirit soar the moment you hear her!"

Corinne D:
Retta could sing some one's grades off of a report card and turn it into an unbelievable song. She's talented, edgy and writes her own stuff. What more could you ask for in an artist?

Chazaq Magazine:
"BMI songwriter, soulful voice, unconventional style. She's the whole package all in one incredible sound!"

Retta is definitely not your typical Christian woman. "Being the adult combination of Punky Brewster and Pippi Longstalking is what fits me best," says the suited up Jesus Freak. "Clothing is an expression of our individuality. I believe we can express ourselves in the way we dress and not damage our testimonies."

Besides being a gifted singer, songwriter and drummer Retta is a wife and home schooling mother. She married her manager Patrick in June of 1991 and since then has had a very large family. Each of her children are involved in her music career to some extent and with their father, accompany Retta to every appearance.

Retta's industry credits began when she landed a co-starring role in a Disney Christmas special, opposite of Lucille Ball. Retta was six years old and has been involved in the entertainment industry since then.

The lyrics to all of Retta's songs have, so far been written by her. The compositions however have been written by friends. Those friends include Denies Willimson, Glen Williamson and Matt Seaver. There has also been collaborations with White Horse Recording Studio owner Dennis Piper.

Why this name?
It's been my nick name since I first started talking
Do you play live?
Yes, shows are done at churches, auditoriums, parks, civic centers, arenas ... just about any where I am asked to perform at.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet not only opens a whole new avenue for fans but also for the artists.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends on how much creative control I'd have.
Band History:
Retta has had her foot on the music industry path for 30+ years. Her first band was Analytical Optionz, a secular gig. The next & first Christian band was Allegiance. The members of Allegiance are among the creators of some of the music for Retta's songs. From there she felt led to go solo.
Your influences?
Influences are Watermark, Natalie Grant, MercyMe & Ray Bolts in the Christian industry. As far as from the secular industry I'd have to say Heart, The Go-Go's, Pat Benetar & Joan Jett
Favorite spot?
I'm not sure I really have a favorite spot .... really any where my husband & children are.
Equipment used:
A microphone & sometimes a tambourine. I also play the drums but really just as a hobby.
