Why this name?
The name "Isso" was created several years ago for one of the producers - DJ Isso. It was given to him at a party. Everyone (obviously intoxicated) kept saying "James is so tight" because he kept making everyone hamburgers. One thing led to another and we ended up choosing this name because of its originality.
Do you play live?
We do not play live, but we do sell beats and work with several local artists who do play live in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Check some featured artists out on our main web site if you want.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it makes it harder for gifted musicians to succeed because of the large amount of material being created and promoted. The internet has made everything so huge and accessible, but there is just a plethora of information out there that it is hard for some great artists and musicians to be discovered. I also think that the internet has helped striving artists progress with their music because of forums and music communities. Promotion on the internet is one of the best ways too. Overall, I believe the internet has helped the individual/independent artists more than the entire music industry itself.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd prefer not to. I do not like the way the major music industry labels are ran and conducted. The big industry just takes away from the roots of music it seems like. Once you get up there with the big names, its all about money, following trends and selling out. I don't create music just for money. If I had to choose a label, it would be an underground label or one that is not so corrupted by materialistic values.
Band History:
Well, we aren't a band, but have been making beats for over 8 years now. We love making music and that's the way it has been ever since. All for the passion of music and we are blessed that we can actually sell a product that people enjoy.
Your influences?
Every day life in general. Emotions and feelings especially. If I'm having a bad day or something I'll just get on the keyboard and rock some melodies out and forget about everything. So much emotion can be expressed through music rather than violence or an explosive personality.
People also influence me - like other artists, producers and family members. Couldn't do anything without the family.
