INTENSITY ! steps outside of popular music structures, improvises its compositions, and experiments with whatever is available.
This allows us to explore free jazz and progressive music that goes in any direction to places where musical pitch is not always restricted to conventional tonal systems.

Why this name?
Because everything is basically improvised, there is an associated adrenaline rush to performance. The amount of attention required to prevent a trainwreck is exhilarating and requires intelligence and discipline. Performance is intense. Life is intense. Improvise!
Do you play live?
Based in the U.S., we play at art installations at galleries and festivals in the Davenport Iowa and Rock Island IL area. We also improvise scores to silent movies through partnership with Kino International.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Freedom from expectations where one does not have to be in a traditional bar/pub band to be able to perform music or sell records.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly. As long as it was all in my best interest as an artist.
Band History:
Int the 70's, the project known as INTENSITY! started a a loose collective of musicians seeking a format for experimentation without boundaries. In the early to mid-90's, we took a more rigorous look at the project and moved to a defined line-up. Members assembled every few months for an evening of musical madness, fueled at first by a little chutzpah and a lot of Cuervo. This incarnaton learned to eschew the Cuervo without sacrificing the basic 'wrongness' of the whole concept, and has now brought it out into the public domain.
Your influences?
King Crimson, Bill Nelson, Spocks Beard, Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, The Dregs, The Flock, Tangerine Dream. But do we sound like them? Er...... no.
Favorite spot?
You're assuming we hang out on earth???
Corpus Christi TX in the summer, on the beach at Padre Island.
