The new underground belgian alternative pop-rock band. Belgium? Of course. Don't you remember Jamiroquai? Jean Claude Van Dam :-) , KsChoice? or at least Hooverphonics? Well the time has come and b-Shake joins this list.
Why this name?
b-Shake. What does it represents to you? That's the question we hear the most. And the answer is "anything you want". "Shake" is the most easyest part cause it represents our music style which is quite fast and electric. The "b" part is a little bit tricky. b for belgian band? b for the double-side aspect (calm and dirty) of their music? b like be (forget those rules)? Who knows... And what do YOU think about?
Do you play live?
b-Shake is actively participating in all possible and impossible gigs especialy in Belgium. But they're always ready to be on the road and to trip.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Like open source software have changed the electronic world before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depending on things they expect us to do. But pretty sure yes.
Band History:
...You want to make an omelette, you have to break some eggs...

Who believed that to have a good sound and make good music you have to come from a country-maker of celebrities? B-Shake is a mix of people from nearly everywhere that's why its sound is special and new. If you want to understand how it works, you have start from the beginning.

The story started in one of those Belgian schools. Niels was 17 years old when he met Malik (the actual guitarist and singer of b-shake). Malik moved to Belgium with his parents in 2000. He already played in different bands like "Brizz", "Atomic direction" and "2PretyCons" and was planning to create a new band. So when he first met Niels (they had a common actor's skills course) and discovers that he's a drummer he knew exactly who he will invite as drummer . To become a real rock band you have to be at least three . Raphael became the bass guitarist. Those three guys were the skeleton of the band. Time to start! First of all they looked for all the necessary "music hardware" (at this period Niels owned a simple muted drums and all the others even didn't have amps) and moved to Niels' basement. After their first sound check, the music didn' t sound like expected. Plenty of courage and motivation , they kept on working. Result: the sound has been improved. A first song bourned was "Yahoo People Search" which became some kind of hymn for B-Shake. Slowly everybody started to get into shape.

First conflict appears. Malik couldn't stand Raph's behaviour anymore , so he left the group and Julian (guitarist from the same school than all the other) took his place. During the same time Malik started to play in another band called "Aisha", a Turkish sound oriented rock band. Both groups had to play together during a "concert. They had to momentary forget their differencies and work hand in hand. Malik decided to return and to try to work once again together. And it seemed to work, but unfortunately Julian decided to leave the group and his music carrier to become an industrial engineer. So here they are three again. Definitely Raphael isn't easy to live with... he pushed their friendship to its extreme limits. So he had to leave.

It wasn't serious, they couldn't continue to play like that, and they need at least one more musician! Cedric Lood joined the band in 2003 as lead guitarist. His love for the brit-pop music transformed B-Shake's sound in a mix of British Radiohead and Canadian Nickelback styles. Enough is enough! Between Cedric and Raphael, it isn't really a "love story" so Raphael had to leave!

At the university Malik met Lafitte Frederic (actual lead guitarist) who played in various bands before b-shake. At this moment Cedric left the band but they already knew exactly who'll replace him. So Fred became a new member, he added to the B-Shake's music sound a mix of Lenny Kravitz and Pearl Jam spirit. He's an experienced guitar wizard and the band makes great progress since he's in. One month later Oleg Filatov joined the band as bass player,

B-shake gave their first real concert at the university on a Tuesday of September 2003 and since, the band made it's way step by step, and they are becoming more famous day by day… almost famous, things were moving slowly but surely until the day Oleg left the band.
Today, they're four: Niels Hille (drums, background vocals), Alimoekhamedov Malik (guitars, vocals), Laffite Frederic (lead guitar) and ...Piroux Caroline (Bass, Back-vocals). Four young beautiful desease-free musicians who are looking forward in making groovy songs and in performing great live shows...
